The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro are currently getting new updates that fix a bunch of bugs and optimize several things as they also usher in the new Always-On Canvas option. The October security patch is also available.

Deploying as an OxygenOS 11.0.1.1 build for both phones, OnePlus says it expects a smoother overall experience from this update, further improved brightness levels, improved standby performance, increased function optimization Smart 5G for extended battery endurance, WiFi optimizations and improved stability, and more.

For the Canvas feature, you’ll find it as one of your always-on display options in the personalization settings. It takes a photo of your choice and then draws a wireframe outline of it to make it an always very cool display. It’s pretty neat.
