Before getting to the heart of the matter, first allow me to express my extreme sadness at not being able to superimpose a kufi hat and red laser beam eyes all over this room. But alas, the show must go on.
On Monday, Nick Cannon appeared on The breakfast club where he chatted with Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy about a myriad of things like ownership, cancellation of culture and the importance of building and leaving a legacy. The latter subject turned out to be something that apparently comes naturally to Cannon, given that he has fathered four of his seven children in the past year.

Naturally, his persistent procreation popped up in the conversation and when Charlamagne pressed him about it, Cannon gave the whole answer:
“Why would people question this? It’s a Eurocentric concept when you think of the ideas of “you’re supposed to have this person for the rest of your life”. And really, it’s just to categorize goods when you think about it. I mean if we get into that mindset, if we really talk about this speech. Like, just the idea that a man should have a wife – we shouldn’t to have whatever. I have no ownership over this person. If we’re really talking about how we coexist and how we populate, this is what exchange can we create together. So I never really subscribed to this mentality.
He later added, “I actually think the women bless us. These women [the mother of his children] and all women are the ones that open up to say ‘I would like to allow this man into my world and I will give birth to his child.’ It is not my decision. I do the same. To which Charlamagne replied: “I respect this game you are throwing at them, ladies. Wow, Nick. “
And “wow” is just because BOOOOOOYYYYYY IF YOU HAVE NO CHOICE – I mean uh, wow, what an insightful and interesting train of thought, Nicholas.
OK, yeah, no — no, I don’t mean that.
Cannon’s explanation is literally what you’d get if a hotep and a thesaurus had a child in love. Just a few weeks ago it was “I have these kids on purpose”, but now “it’s not my decision? Which one is it? Or it’s not really and you just like to do what you wanna do because you know that despite how little criticism you get, no one is ultimately going to paint you in a certain light because you’re a man and we know how this game is going?
To be honest, I really don’t care why Cannon wants “10 to 12 kids”. If you want to do this, that’s fine. Just don’t try to portray your reasoning as something falsely deep when it clearly isn’t. Because not only does it sound like a bunch of gaming like Charlamagne put it so well, but it also looks like something straight out of Oswald Bates’ manual and sorry to say, TI already has that common thread.
