Nickelodeon All Star Brawl Needs Legends of the Hidden Temple Scene

Ever since Nintendo announced the upcoming Nickelodeon All Star Brawl earlier this week, fans of the gaming world have been enthusiastically speculating on the types of characters and content that will be included in their childhood memories. While we’ve really only seen virtual cartoon content for All Star Brawl so far, there’s a lot of talk about Nick’s live action shows.

While it’s a bit difficult to see a true roster emerge from Legends of the Hidden Temple, the iconic children’s game show would lend itself perfectly to creating a NASB battle arena.

For those who haven’t seen Legends, here’s the quick rundown. Teams of two children, a boy and a girl aged 11 to 15, would compete against other similar teams in a series of physical and story-based challenges. While the show would start with seven teams, the playoff rounds would narrow them down to one.

The final team would then race through the temple, which was a 12-room maze filled with puzzles that competitors would have to solve to move from room to room in order to get a special artifact located at the most deep in it. The entire test took place in just three minutes, after which the contestants would fail if they had not retrieved the object and escaped with it.

Temple guards would hide in random rooms and spawn to scare / hamper the progress of competitors, although these guards can be dodged with special pendants earned during games leading up to the temple race. If a runner was caught without one of these pendants, they would be removed from the temple and their partner would run in an attempt to finish it.

Here is a very quick video recap of the very first episode of Jomboy Media which presents the whole experience quite well. There is a bit of NSFW language.

Those who have played their fair share of Super Smash Bros. know how important and impactful the set design is in a platform fighting game like Nickelodeon All Star Brawlers. The setting for Legends of the Hidden Temple was an Indiana Jones adventure for kids, and included some incredibly memorable backdrops from Olmec (a giant talking Mayan head who sat at the entrance to the temple and told great parts of the show. ) to the various emblematic rooms (such as the infamous Sanctuary of the Silver Monkey).

We’re not sure if the NASB will primarily feature Ring KOs, where you’ll just have to knock out your opponent beyond arena bounds to defeat them, or if they’ll take a life-based approach to Vitality. of the character, but a milestone legend could certainly be made to accommodate either.

There were over 50 different rooms in the temple over the show’s three seasons, and perhaps a rotating collection of the biggest hits could be featured on a NASB Legends stage. Maybe this would be similar to the Luigi’s Mansion scene that’s been part of Smash from Brawl, where we see six separate rooms that could each present various dangers based on the show’s temple rooms?

With serial numbers like Aaah! Real monsters and Ren and Stimpy, Nintendo has already shown they are ready to appease the older audience members who watched Nickelodeon 20 years ago. Legends of the Hidden Temple was by far Nick’s most memorable game show of the 1990s (which certainly means something) and would work perfectly as a fitting addition to the next platformer fight.

But what do you think? Let us know in the comments if you agree, disagree, or if you would do things slightly differently than imagined here in this article. Nickelodeon All Star Brawl will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC this fall.
