Nicole Richie’s birthday celebration was an enlightened occasion – literally.
Lionel Richie’s daughter turned 40 on Tuesday, and a clip she shared on Instagram from her celebration shows the star’s hair catching fire as she blows out her birthday candles.
In the short video, Richie leans over an adorably decorated cake with a childhood photo of her when the tips of her hair are aflame. Can Richie and other attendees hear screaming in the video as the flames move closer to his head. Thanks to Richie’s nod and a few pats from her and a friend, the flames quickly dissipated.
Luckily Richie appeared to be fine and made a joke about the situation captioning the video: “Well… so far 40 is [fire emoji]. “

Richie’s post quickly elicited reactions from his famous friends who couldn’t believe the show and also offered positive birthday wishes.
“HBD !!! Hope you are doing well!” “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo commented with a heart-shaped emoji.

“Omg,” wrote Zooey Deschanel.
“DON’T WAIT, WAIT OMG,” Katy Perry added.
Richie’s younger sister Sofia also couldn’t get enough of the message and joked, “OH MY F — ING GOD !!!!!!!!!! This is hot.”
“Jesus Christ lolooll,” responded Vanessa Hudgens.

The Artistic Director of House of Harlow 1960 also received a sweet tribute from her husband Joel Madden. In a message shared on his account, he told Richie that she had “had timeless love, I forgot our age”.
