Dr. Chibawanye Ene, a Nigerian doctor based in the United States, has won the Ronald L. Bittner 2019 Award for Brain Tumor Research.
According to a statement from the Clinical Department of Applied Radiation Oncology in the United States, Ene received the award at the annual scientific meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), to be held from April 13 to 17 at San Diego.
The 37-year-old from Akpugo in the Nkanu West Local Government Area in Enugu State, his research work titled "Anti-PD-L1 Immunotherapy Improves the Abscopal Radiation-Induced Response in glioblastoma. "
The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that helps the immune system fight cancer.
