Nikki Haley Learns There’s No Halfway With Trump

She literally said exactly that – in an interview with Politico’s Tim Alberta recently. Here is the quote:

“I think what we need to do is take the good he has built, let go of the bad he did and come back to a place where we can be a good, valuable and effective party.”

Logic! Except there’s a 0% chance that Trump – or the base he commands – will agree to this plan.

Witness this Politico report on Thursday afternoon:

Nikki Haley contacted former President Donald Trump on Wednesday to ask to sit in Mar-a-Lago, but a familiar source told Playbook he turned it down. The two have not spoken since then. insurgency on Jan.6, when Haley criticized Trump for instigating his supporters to storm the Capitol. “

You see, there is no halfway with Trump. There’s no way you can align yourself with him, but also keep you away from ugly stuff – like his actions (and inactions) during the January 6 riot on the Capitol.

Either you are ALL IN on Trump or he sees you as everything out there – and so it’s right to be a) ignored or b) attacked. And the only way to stay 100% is to fully support him on everything he says and does. No question asked.

So Haley’s strategy might make sense to her (or on paper), but in the real world she’ll have to make a choice: are you with Trump or not?

PointWhether Trump himself runs again in 2024, the fundamental question every candidate who runs will have to answer is whether he will run with Trump or away from him. There is no middleman.
