It’s been just under a year since Hellblade developer Ninja Theory released their team-based multiplayer effort, Bleeding Edge, but the studio is already waiting for development, announcing that there will be no more updates. of content starting today.

Released last March on Xbox One and PC, Bleeding Edge was billed as a raucous mix of third-person melee action and class-based 4v4 multiplayer, and it managed to lay a solid foundation, albeit rather. simple, at launch. As Eurogamer’s Wesley Yin-Poole put it in his review, “The fight is pretty much good enough to get away with so far, but without a few meaningful updates I’ll probably lose interest on. as soon as possible.”

These updates have arrived, but only sporadically, with Bleeding Edge’s last major addition arriving in the form of the new character Azrael back in July. A quick glance at SteamCharts shows that the competition has since fallen, with player counts barely over 30 in the past few months. If this trend is mirrored elsewhere, it’s understandable that Ninja Theory would choose to pull the plug for other content updates.

News announcement on Twitter, the developer linked its decision to the fact that it “is now focusing on our new projects (Senua’s Saga, Project Mara and The Insight Project)”, but noted that Bleeding Edge will remain playable on Xbox and PC.
