Nintendo accidentally lists a Wii U Banjo-Kazooie game

Nintendo made a small mistake this week by accidentally listing Banjo-Kazooie coming to the Wii U Virtual Console. Earlier today, some keen-eyed people from Game Watch grabbed a Japanese roster of the original N64 title touted as coming to the VC, with another game called Blast dozer, both manufactured by Rare. Within hours, however, the game was removed from the website causing a lot of interest in what was really going on and wondering if this was a mistake or a hint of something else. . An apology was then posted on the website, explaining that the listing was in error and that there was no intention to release either game on the Wii U VC. This makes sense because everything to do with the console is pretty much dead.

However, it has started to pique player interest as to whether or not this might or might not be an indication of something bigger on the horizon. While Nintendo has made a few versions here and there with the NES and SNES libraries on Nintendo Switch Online, they have yes to expanding beyond the mid-90s and into 3D console territory. There have been rumors for over a year that overnight we’re going to see an N64 version appear on NSO, but it never materialized. Same thing with the Game Cube and Wii rumors, but nothing happened. This will add a file to the N64 fire, but it’s hardly proof that the company is actually working towards this version at the moment. However, we can’t say that we wouldn’t like to see the N64 appear up there with Banjo-Kazooie as one of the titles. Having said that, we would also like Nintendo to add more to the SNES library, as several major games still haven’t been added to it.
