Aya Kyogoku and Hisashi Nogami of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons development team have revealed some additional details about how co-op and online multiplayer can work in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in a interview with IGN at E3.

The New Horizons live stream demo of Nintendo Treehouse showed that Kyogoku and Nogami were playing in local multiplayer, each using a single Joy-Con to play. During the stream, they revealed that up to four players could play this way, then they confirmed to IGN that they would all play on one screen, not on split screen.

Then, when it comes to wireless online and local, up to eight players can be on an island. This number is doubled compared to the previous limit of 4 New Leaf players. And while New Horizons has a travel theme, Kyogoku has confirmed that you can not pitch a tent on a friend's island. However, Kyogoku told IGN that you can create up to eight playable accounts on a Nintendo switch and that they will be able to live on the same island. You can not have multiple islands, though.

Kyogoku said that the Nintendo Switch Online application should be compatible with Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Kyogoku and Nogami also confirmed that Isabelle would be in New Horizons, but you will have to win her presence.
