The Nintendo Switch independent catalog continues to grow in strength.
During its Indie World presentation on Wednesday, Nintendo announced fan favorites as Loop hero and Tetris effect will make their way to the handheld console in the future. However, you won’t have to wait for everything.
As has been the case with previous independent storefronts, you will be able to download a handful of games from Nintendo eShop starting today. There are seven games in total coming up, like the adorable RPG Garden story and a port of the agricultural game in the first person, Slime breeder. Read on to see the full list of the seven games launching today.
Axiom Verge 2
Axiom Verge 2 is a Metroidvania and a prequel sequel to Axiom Verge. Polygon named original Axiom Verge as the best indie Metroidvania on Nintendo Switch. The sequel continues in the tradition of the first and adheres to the classic pixel graphics for which early Metroid games on NES were known.
Friends dungeon
In Friends dungeon from Kitfox Games, you will fight with your weapons, then you will date them. That’s right, as you make your way through this dungeon mech, your weapons will transform into handsome villains for you to woo. It’s a playful fusion of two genres: dating sims and dungeon crawlers.
Necrobarista: Final For
Pour coffees for the dead in Necrobarista: Final For Route 59 and the Coconut Island Games. This anime-style visual novel will arrive on Switch with new features, additional story content, and remastered visuals.
Islanders: Console Edition
Grizzly Games and Coatsink’s Islanders is a peaceful strategy game where you develop this terrain by placing miniature buildings on it. It’s a relatively simple concept where you place items from an inventory to rack up points, but has a relaxing vibe.
Garden story
If you caught the Wholesome Games Showcase, Picogram, and Rose City Games’ Garden story may sound familiar. This top-down RPG lets you play as a cute little grape on a quest to restore his community.
Slime Rancher: Traceable Edition
First-person slime-farming game Slime breeder is coming to Nintendo Switch. The Monomi Park game got an official release in 2017, so it’s nice to see the franchise finally arrive on Nintendo Switch. Plus, a Switch version is a perfect excuse to pick up the series in anticipation of the upcoming release of its sequel, Slime Breeder 2.
Curious Expedition 2
Curious Expedition 2 is a narrative roguelike set in a late 19th century fictionalized version. The developers released a content update in May that extended the original version of the game for free, which will also be part of the Nintendo Switch version.
