Nintendo, which is often associated with being a toy maker, associates itself, among all companies, with luxury watchmaker Tag Heuer. The two companies revealed their collaboration on an upcoming Super Mario-themed watch in a psychedelic teaser posted on Twitter early Friday morning.
You can register now on the Tag Heuer website for a preview access to the “exclusive limited edition” watch coming “super soon”. Confusingly, Tag Heuer’s tweet says you can “turn on July 13,” but the website has a clock that currently counts up to two days later: Thursday, July 15 at 10 a.m. ET. If you are interested in getting one of these watches, you might want to register on the site to stay on top of when you can actually order one.
The site doesn’t give any pricing details, but from what I can tell, most Tag Heuer watches cost at least a big one, so it seems likely that this Super Mario watch isn’t cheap. And I have to say, the collaboration is not what I would expect from Nintendo, which I wouldn’t consider a luxury brand. But I’m really curious what this watch might look like, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for the official reveal next week.
