The latest Nintendo Switch review is just months away from release, with the super slick OLED Switch model hitting stores on October 8. Naturally, it would make sense for gaming fans to hope the new revision includes updated Joy-Con controllers that finally eliminate the Joy-Con drift issue, but Nintendo’s latest statement on this doesn’t give us any confidence. .
As we already know, Nintendo previously announced that the Joy-Con included with the OLED Switch “are the same as the controllers currently available..“Although this could be interpreted as being exactly the same, including everything from how they look to the annoying parts that cause Joy-Con to drift, it could also mean that the new controllers are just compatible with all of the same things, functioning the same as the originals but with potentially improved parts doing the job.
Perhaps this second possibility was wishful thinking, however. The Verge – with Wired, Polygon, GameSpot – asks Nintendo about Joy-Con drift; the dodging nature of the company’s response probably tells us all we need to know.
