PALMS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) – Hundreds of fans and former classmates of Nipsey Hussle gathered at Los Angeles High School where he attended to commemorate the rapper murdered for his music and contributions to the community.

Hussle attended Hamilton High School in the Palms neighborhood. About 200 to 300 friends and former classmates gathered at the school to remember Hussle, who was born Ermias Joseph Asghedom.

Hussle was shot dead on March 31 in front of the Hyde Park clothing store that he owned.

The police then arrested Eric Ronald Holder Jr. during the shooting, claiming that it was the result of a personal dispute between the two men.

The people gathered at the vigil shared the memories of the 33-year-old rapper and praised his musical contributions.

"I had the pleasure of meeting him in 2004," said Tamiko Carson, a Hamilton High alumnus. "I was shopping at Target and we just started talking, and he was really an amazing young man.The mark he left on this world – he will never be replaceable." No other no one will be able to match what he did. "

A larger public memorial for Hussle is scheduled to be held at Staples Center on Thursday.
