A series of violent thunderstorms early Monday morning left a negative impact on New Jersey, with blackouts and suspension of a commuter train line.

According to the company's respective websites, approximately 16,232 utility customers across the state are without electricity as of 11:55 am

  • JCP & L: 11,830 customers, mainly in Middlesex (Monroe), Monmouth (Holmdel, Manalapan and Marlboro) and Ocean (Jackson, Manchester and Toms River) counties.

  • PES & G: 4,118 clients primarily in Burlington and Camden counties.

  • Atlantic City Electric: 284 customers

According to Townsquare chief meteorologist in New Jersey, Dan Zarrow, the restoration of power could be hampered by gusting winds of over 40 mph.

NJ Transit has suspended service on the Jersey North Shore line back and forth in Middletown due to a fallen tree during the morning commute. Service resumed between Matawan-Aberdeen and New York from 10 am with bus service between Aberdeen-Matawan and Long Branch & Bay Head
