Rocky mountains infielder Brendan Rodgers left yesterday’s spring training competition after shooting up while trying to steal second base. He has since been diagnosed with a strain of the right hamstrings, by Thomas Harding of MLB.com (Twitter link). It is not yet clear whether the issue threatens its availability for opening day. If he’s in good health, the former # 3 overall pick appears to have a clear path to daily playing time at second base. Should he be forced to run out of time, Garrett hampson or Josh Sources could bear to see an increased role (the latter at third base with Ryan mcmahon play the keystone). Chris Owings is also returning to camp as an unregistered guest and has plenty of second baseman experience.
