SERIES: The Giants have won this year’s regular season clashes 10-9.

It’s the playoff game Giants fans have been waiting for: a showdown with the hated Dodgers. It became a possibility in 1995 when the MLB instituted the wild card, but after 26 years of the expanded playoff format, the California rivals finally face each other.

The Giants overtook the Dodgers to claim the NL West title, needing each of their 107 major-league wins to avoid the Wild Card Game. Los Angeles entered the one-game round and bounced the St. Louis Cardinals out of the playoffs with a Chris Taylor home run late Wednesday night.

They’ll climb that high as well, but the Giants have the advantage of four full days off after the regular season.
