NLDS 2021 schedule: Dodgers vs. Giants

For the first time, the Dodgers and Giants will meet in the playoffs, and it comes in a season where both teams set a franchise record for wins. The 107-game Giants will face the 106-game Dodgers in the 2021 National League Division series starting Friday night at Oracle Park in San Francisco.

Los Angeles clinched a berth in the NLDS against its rivals by beating the Cardinals on Wednesday in the NL wild card game at Dodger Stadium. This is only the third time the Dodgers and Giants have made the playoffs in the same year, and unlike 2014, this time LA has passed St. Louis.

NLDS Game 1 will start at 6:37 PM PT, with Game 2 scheduled for 6:07 PM. Start times for the rest of the series have yet to be announced.

The Dodgers tied their team record in 2019 with 106 wins, but that wasn’t enough to win a ninth straight National League West crown. The Giants, who beat the Dodgers in all three series after all the all-star hiatus and won the season series against Los Angeles 10 games to nine, have won 107 games, surpassing their New York-set team record in 1904.

Despite finishing with the second best record in baseball, the Dodgers were relegated to a one-and-one-done wildcard game.

“I think all 106 games are out the window now. It didn’t help us win the division so it’s really irrelevant, ”Mookie Betts said ahead of Wednesday’s game. “We are where we are now. We must play the hand that is dealt to us. It’s just a game. The same thing we’ve been doing all season.

Walker Buehler will start NLDS Game 1 on Friday for the Dodgers, while Julio Urías will start Game 2 on Saturday.

Max Scherzer, who started the wild card game on Wednesday, would not start until Game 3 on Monday at Dodger Stadium.

Giants coach Gabe Kapler told reporters Wednesday that Logan Webb would like start game 1 for San Francisco, with Kevin Gausman starting Game 2. After that, TBD.

Every game of the NLDS will be televised by TBS, with Brian Anderson and Ron Darling on call.
