No Chromecast with Google TV Black Friday discount

At $ 49.99, Google’s latest streaming device is already pretty affordable and great value for money. A Chromecast cut with Google TV was expected for Black Friday, but that didn’t materialize after apparent confusion.

Less than a week after the announcement and launch of the dongle, a report emerged claiming that it would be reduced from $ 10 to $ 39.99. (This report has since been updated to note how the deal was canceled.)

Meanwhile, shortly after the Google Store started advertising Black Friday last week, we spotted – on November 19 – an official announcement online reaffirming the deal. The Google TV model (in Snow) with voice remote was clearly on display, and the price cut seemed to be $ 1 more than previously mentioned.

Google released all of its Black Friday deals last night and the Chromecast with Google TV was not discounted and stayed at its current price. The price is also unchanged at third-party retailers.

Instead, the $ 11 discount went to the 3rd gen Chromecast introduced in 2018. This 1080p streamer costs $ 18.99, just like the Nest Mini. Google’s new device joins a host of other products that don’t get an official Black Friday / Cyber Monday price cut: Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 4a, Pixelbook Go and Pixel Slate, as well as Nest Cams top of the line.

In all likelihood, Google had originally planned to scale down its latest Chromecast in what would have been a very aggressive marketing plan. The ads were ready, but something changed at the last second.

This would have been the ultimate sock tote for the holiday shopping season. Barring another last-minute change this weekend, the Chromecast with Google TV appears to be staying at its original price.
