"Just so nobody takes the wrong idea …"

God of War director Cory Barlog reiterated that no DLC was planned for God of War, but that there was birthday content to come.

In response to the news that God of War is receiving content for his one-year anniversary in the form of themes and avatars, Barlog tweeted "It's not all …"

Naturally, fans suspected that this meant even bigger announcements would be made for the birthday, especially DLC news for God of War. To calm those expectations, Barlog quickly tweeted "Just so nobody takes the wrong idea – there is no DLC for the game. Sorry."

SIE Santa Monica has created a thank you message on the PlayStation blog commemorating the first anniversary of God of War, officially celebrated on April 20th. In addition to a video thanking fans for their support, Santa Monica has released a dynamic PS4 theme, which is now available for free download, and a set of God of War character avatars that will also be free via the PlayStation Store starting April 17.

Previously, Barlog had revealed on the IGN Beyond podcast that his ideas for the DLC scenario for God of War would have simply taken too much time. At a presentation at the GDC 2019, Barlog also revealed that the game's script had been rewritten after a year of development and described in detail the entire story of this famous E3 2016 demo .

Shortly after the release of God of War, Santa Monica updated it with a new game + mode.
