No holiday break for gas prices in N.J. ahead of what could be an expensive summer

Drivers in New Jersey and across the country do not get a lot of vacation on the prices at the pump.

According to AAA Mid-Atlantic, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in New Jersey was $ 2.81 Friday, up five cents from last week and four cents higher than the prices charged a year ago.

The national average Friday gasoline price was $ 2.83 per gallon, up two cents from last week and above the national average of $ 2.74 last year.

Analysts believe that the demand for gasoline and the decline in the supply of crude oil and gasoline nationwide are still pushing prices up.
