The Cubs are reportedly still looking for a left-handed second baseman, but if they want to land someone, it won’t be a reunion with Jason Kipnis.
After a solid but unspectacular field in 2020 with the Cubs, Kipnis left to join the Atlanta Braves:

With the Braves, Kipnis will be fighting for a bench gig (it’ll be a minor league deal), and on most lineups he’s a perfect fit for this role. All the best to him with the Braves. Definitely a fun, positive guy to have around 2020.

I also can’t say enough good things about the @Cubs org. I loved putting this college on … and although it was a weird, shortened season with no fans, I’m thankful that it happened! I would have loved to experience a complete Wrigley in cubbie blue #maybe someday

As for the Cubs, they will likely make it to second base with one or more from Nico Hoerner, David Bote, Ildemaro Vargas and Matt Duffy. If they want to bring in a left bat to compete, you watch what happens on Eric Sogard (they always loved him), or does he-have-something-left on Neil Walker. I guess there’s also a guy like Jake Lamb, who you have to hope could bounce back to the plate AND you’ll have to take your chances to see if he can play second base.
