No Man's Sky becomes a massive multiplayer mode

No Man's Sky, the game imbued with infamy after its disastrous launch, is much happier nowadays. It is also expected to receive a massive update that adds several features to the game, including the online multiplayer mode.

The update is scheduled for the summer of 2019 and simply titled "Beyond".

Beyond comes as a result of the update known as Next, released last summer. Next introduced multiplayer in the form of playing with a small group of friends. Beyond plans to expand this strategy and introduce No Man's Sky Online.

No Man's Sky Online plans to bring players from the universe together to play and explore together. The team does not consider it an MMO. No subscription will be required, there will be no microtransactions and Beyond will be free for all existing players.

The update came from the Hello Games team, who realized that it could offer "a much more exciting and compelling experience" if they chose to combine major features instead of publishing them one by one. They also say it's their "most ambitious chapter" so far and they work hard to make the game and community justice.

For now, we'll just have to wait until No Man's Sky can go to infinity and beyond.
