We explained a few days ago that there is a good reason why there is no Spider-Man: No Path Home trailer again. And that might not be the movie’s biggest spoiler. It’s easy to assume that Sony and Marvel are delaying the release of the trailer to keep the film’s multiverse a secret. But it’s a plot detail that most fans are familiar with. Trying to stay away from this particular Spider-Man 3 spoiler is futile. It’s been everywhere for the last few months so most people have been exposed to it.
Another potential reason to delay the film’s first trailer could be the current state of the coronavirus pandemic. The delta variant is fueling another wave of infections that is taking multiple regions by storm. Fans were concerned Sony would delay its fall and winter movie list, including No way home. What was only speculation a few days ago increasingly looks like a real possibility. This is because some of the upcoming movies could really get delayed.
After several delays, Sony and Marvel settled in on December 17 for the Spider-Man 3 Release. Delaying the film for a few weeks or months will certainly be annoying news. But everything depends on the evolution of the health crisis.
Sony and Marvel surely want to make the most of No way home, and the film has the potential to break new box office records. However, they are unlikely to reach pre-pandemic figures.
Will Sony delay the No way home Release?
Let’s not forget that Sony and Marvel have no plans to release No way home online at the same time as the movie premiere in theaters. Black Widow is the only MCU movie to have gotten a day-and-date launch so far.
Sony has not yet made a No way home delay announcements. But we’re seeing more reports that detail various delays for films released in theaters in the past months. Spider-Man 3. By Murphy Multiverse, Venom: let there be carnage hits theaters on October 14 in New Zealand and Australia instead of September 23.
The second Venom 2 the trailer got fans to speculate that No way home could also be delayed. the Venom the sequel is also a Sony movie, and it’s part of Sony’s own universe of Spider Man stories. Sony didn’t mention the movie’s release date in the second trailer.
Likewise, Austrian cinemas might not get Venom 2 until October 21. It’s almost a month later than expected. But Austrian cinemas have reportedly announced the same launch date since May.
Will Disney delay other MCU versions?
It’s not just Sony movies. Apparently, Disney will also have to decide whether or not to delay Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings. This is according to the chatter online. As seen below, Disney would not have sent the final cut of the film to international markets, where it will be released early.
Shang-Chi is scheduled to hit theaters on September 3. Eternals should follow on November 5. If Disney delays the first one, the whole roster could be delayed, including No way home. If that’s going to be the case, we’ll be waiting for the release of the first trailer for a while.
