“I am mortified that I used a term without knowing the context and the story.”
Earlier this week, the singer took to Instagram to defend Harry Styles for wearing a dress in his badass Vogue cover last month.
After the cover came out, Tory expert Candace Owens – who happens to be a black woman – tweeted “Bring back the manly men”, to which Harry got the best response.
In his own IG article, Noah wrote: “He wears this dress better than anything [you] diaper heauxz, “and, I just … wow.
Naturally, his racist comment drew negative reactions.
People weren’t buying her excuse that she didn’t know what diaper meant:
Noah finally apologized for her remark and said she was “mortified” for “using a term without knowing the context”.
However, his apology was not accepted by everyone.
“Nappy is not an insult, but Noah really tried,” wrote a black woman alongside a photo of her hair.
“Proud of these diaper roots!” another black woman tweeted with a photo of her locks.
Hopefully Noah will think about it before posting next time. Or at least not to use words whose historical context she does not know.
