MIAMI – This was the kind of departure Noah Syndergaard needed. The Mets too.
A lot of scouts were in the stands Saturday night at Marlins Park to see the right-hander, including the Yankees scout, Cory Melvin, the Post learned.
The Mets are unlikely to negotiate Syndergaard, especially before the July 31 trade deadline, but the teams are doing due diligence and anything is possible. The Yankees, of course, are always diligent in monitoring the pitchers market because of the need to improve their rotation.
Syndergaard could certainly be moved in the offseason.
But Thor was spectacular in the 4-2 win over the Marlins.
"I'm trying not to pay too much attention to that," said Syndergaard about a possible exchange. "Right now, I love being a Met. If anything changes, it would be really bitter-sweet, because New York City itself, the fan base, just the guys from this clubhouse have a place special in my heart. "
On Friday, Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen said during the evaluation of his chips that he hoped Jacob deGrom and Syndergaard would stay in the club – but the Mets are in a place where you can never really never say.
"We have expired contracts that attract people and we have received several calls on a number of players over which we have control beyond this year," said Van Wagenen. "But I think at this point we're waiting [deGrom and Syndergaard] to be part of us to go from the front. "
DeGrom has a full non-swap clause under the five-year contract of $ 137.5 million that it had received before the season. Syndergaard is under the control of the club until 2021.
The potential of Syndergaard is enormous, and if the Mets were to separate from him, they would gain a lot in return.
Syndergaard entered the night scoring an average of 4.68, but appeared to be a much different pitcher, scoring five consecutive Marlins at one point in the second and third innings.

He has now won four consecutive decisions, and this victory was made possible by a rare return to Robinson Cano's home in the upper deck – a two-point attack in the eighth to break the 2-2 draw. Michael Conforto scored a goal at home in the third inning while he was placed in second place to take advantage of the batting advantage ahead of Pete Alonso.
Syndergaard has a 7-1 life against the Marlins. He owns them. His record this season has improved to 7-4.
He buzzed for seven innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs, both of which were part of the fourth. He eliminated nine batters, hit a batter and did not run anyone. He was in control and, like DeGrom, he was facing his personal seeker, Tomas Nido. Syndergaard made 105 shots on that hot, wet night, 69 for shots.
It was one of the best wins of the year for the Mets, and before you could say "pretty much at the right time" it showed the value of having Nido behind the plate for Syndergaard.
The office did not spoil Syndergaard's night.
Since the start of the 2016 season, the Mets are 30-13 out of the 43 games that Syndergaard started after a loss. Scouts love his electric stuff. Like everything else at the Mets, it's a matter of consistency.
Syndergaard will probably be safe, but Zack Wheeler is the starter of the Mets that will surely be exchanged. He will launch Tuesday in Minnesota against the Twins and another full scouts.
