The film stars Bob Odenkirk in his first turn as an action hero.

Bob Odenkirk’s new revenge action thriller Person was someone at the weekend’s box office, opening at $ 6.7 million domestically as more theaters in Los Angeles and the rest of the West Coast reopen.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ilya Naishuller from Hardcore Henry renowned and written by John wick creator Derek Kolstad, the Universal film had no trouble climbing to the top of the charts after being adopted by audiences and critics (don’t be surprised if there are sequels, similar to the Taken and John wick franchises).

In the film, Odenkirk (You better call Saul) plays a person who leads a mundane life and shakes things up when their family is robbed. Connie Nielsen, Michael Ironside and Christopher Lloyd co-star.

The main markets were Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Phoenix and Chicago, with Los Angeles producing eight of the top 25 profitable theaters. Again, Person played evenly across the country.

The audience was made up of 47% Caucasians, 21% Hispanics, 18% African Americans, and 6% Asian. It biased males (62%) and older, 44% of ticket buyers over 35.

Person has so far raised $ 5 million overseas for markets.

Internationally, the headline of the weekend was Legendary Godzilla vs. Kong, which launched a record $ 121.8 million at the foreign box office, including $ 70.3 million in China. The Warner Bros. and Legendary tent pole will open across the country next week.

Elsewhere in North America, family benefits Raya and the last dragon and Tom and Jerry increased their national totals to $ 28.4 million and $ 37.1 million after earning $ 3.5 million and $ 2.5 million for the weekend, respectively.

Walk in chaos followed in third place with $ 1.9 million for a national total of $ 11.5 million, while The mail won $ 1 million on its second outing for a total of $ 3.5 million.
