Nokia and Xiaomi unveil the first phones to receive updates from Android Q

As some of you probably already know, Google plans to launch the next version of Android, known as the Android Q, in the month of August / September. However, Mountain View will release two more Android Q beta updates, which will be available to customers using certain smartphones. Besides Pixel phones compatible with these Android Q beta updates, two other brands recently announced have decided to add their phones to the Android beta program.

HMD Global, the entity behind the Nokia brand, has confirmed that the Nokia 8.1 was its first smartphone to offer Android Q Beta via the Nokia device developer preview program.

Then, Xiaomi announced that it offered early developers and users the opportunity to experience the latest beta version of Android Q on the Mi 9 and Mi MIX 3 5G smartphones. Apparently, the Mi MIX 3 5G is now the world's first 5G smartphone to support Android Q Beta, but the two devices mentioned are probably the first handsets of the company to be updated to the final version of Android Q.

To sign up for Android Q Beta, you will need to visit the Xiaomi beta program page and download the software. Do not forget though that this is not the final version of Android Q, so many features may not work properly or not at all.

Although this initiative is primarily aimed at developers, it clearly indicates that these smartphones will be among the first smartphones to receive the Android Q update soon after Google releases it later this summer.
