We last saw Nomad bring some of its iconic leather styles to Apple’s Magnetic Wireless Charger with a Horween cover, but today’s new reveal is more in the realm of its first MagSafe accessory. . Launched earlier in the year, we saw a stainless steel stand coming in, and now Nomad is following that up with a vertical version.
Entered as the MagSafe mounting bracket, the latest Nomad accessory arrives with much of the same simplistic design we last saw. While not quite as high end, this upright model comes with a single block of zinc alloy metal coated with a carbide finish, which compares to the high end material from last time around. Even so, it seems to accomplish the same task of providing a home for Apple’s MagSafe Internal Charger.
The Nomad MagSafe mounting bracket does not come with built-in charging functions, but instead has a slot machined to fit the Apple first party accessory. This makes its price even higher, given that you will already need to have the MagSafe charger itself. Now available for purchase from Nomad, it comes in $ 59.95. So, is the whole package worth it? Let’s dive in.

I have checked out the new Nomad MagSafe mounting bracket over the last few days and can say it is a pretty quirky accessory. Everything is as simple as last time, while adding new features, thanks to the vertical design. The more premium construction is definitely a highlight for me, as it definitely helps achieve that more minimalist nightstand or office vibe.
That being said, its simple design is still efficient enough to get the job done. Not only does it keep Apple’s MagSafe cable in place, the new Nomad mounting bracket offers a more versatile design just by standing on it. This allows you to keep an eye on notifications and the like throughout the day when in use at a desk, or even rotate your iPhone 12 to watch videos without having to remove it from the charger.
While it’s quite heavy and has a rubber pad at the bottom for better grip, it doesn’t quite stay put like the stainless steel version we saw launching earlier in the year. . But with the center of gravity a bit higher on the vertical model here, that makes sense.
This is really the only downside I’ve found so far, as I’m really digging into the black finish and the same simple approach this time around from Nomad.
Ultimately, his $ 60 price tag is going to be a nonstarter for many. But that’s just how Nomad rides sometimes. Its more premium gear isn’t for all iPhone owners, and the new Nomad MagSafe stand definitely falls into that category. But for those who want an unrivaled accessory for their desk or bedside table, I can certainly recommend the brand’s latest addition.
The Nomad mounting bracket solves my main problem with Apple’s MagSafe charger not staying in place on its own and bringing extra functionality into the mix, thanks to its upright design. And it still sports a look as simple and clean as that of a charging accessory.
