There is no doubt that the Toronto Raptors are not having the best season. So much so that their former swingman Norman Powell won more games with the Portland Trail Blazers than with the Raptors throughout the month of March.
Note that Powell was recently traded to the Trail Blazers and only played two games. He helped the team win those two games as the Raptors are still stranded with just one win this month. Interestingly, Powell realized this interesting statistic at the expense of his former team on Sunday.

It’s a bittersweet statistic. Powell is happy with his new team right now, but at the same time, it’s probably difficult for him to look at the team standings and see the Raptors near the bottom stack. After all, the 27-year-old UCLA product not only helped the Raptors win their first title in 2019 history, but he also slowly built his career wearing the Raptors jersey.
In fact, even before the trade, he had a career-high breakout season averaging 19.7 points per game. Despite his best efforts, however, the Raptors continually fell down the ladder. This was probably the reason for the small adjustment that sent Powell to Rip City in exchange for Gary Trent Jr. and Rodney Hood.
In the Trail Blazers’ 122-117 win over the Raptors, Norman Powell had 13 points, three rebounds and one steal. He was 3 of 6 on the field and 6 of 9 on the free throw line. It’s a good follow-up to his 22-point outing on his Trail Blazers debut against the Orlando Magic last Friday.
