Gunfire erupted at a nightclub in Gastonia, North Carolina on Thursday evening, injuring six people, including two police officers, police said.
Gastonia Police said Friday that two officers were off duty at a club when the shooting broke out around 11 p.m. at Remedies nightclub, about 30 minutes west of Charlotte.
Authorities did not specify the cause of the altercation, but the two officers intervened and attempted to dissolve it, which turned into a shootout that left them with non-fatal injuries, police said. .
Four other victims sustained non-fatal injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital, police said.
Two suspects, who police identified as Alonzo Lewis Hamilton and Allen Slaughter, were arrested after the shooting, police said. Both have been charged with six counts of assault with a lethal weapon with intent to kill, police said.
