At least six people, including two police officers, were shot dead at a nightclub in North Carolina on Thursday night, according to multiple reports.
Authorities said the two agents were working at Remedies nightclub in Gastonia, North Carolina, when they attempted to defuse an argument around 11 p.m., FOX 46 Charlotte reported.
They have been identified as Sgt. E. Nelson and Constable M. Lewis, both of the Gastonia Police Department, according to reports. The police officers, as well as the other patrons of the nightclub, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

“He seemed to be doing well,” a witness said of the condition of one of the injured officers.
After the shooting, identified suspects as Alonzo Lewis Hamilton and Allen Slaughter were arrested and charged with six counts of assault with a lethal weapon with intent to kill by inflicting serious injuries, the station reported.

Agents from several agencies responded to the scene, according to Charlotte’s WCNC-TV. Part of Union Road, located near the nightclub, was closed following an investigation by authorities.
