Some Metro-North users will see their trips become more expensive as a result of the announced increase in tolls and MTA rates coming into effect on Sunday.
An increase of nearly 4% in the fare was approved by MTA officials earlier this year, but it will have no impact on links west of Hudson on the Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines. These runners would have been spared a year rich in disabled trains and canceled in the Hudson Valley.
The new rates will come into effect on Sunday, April 21st.
Commuters who purchase a monthly ticket, now exceeding $ 460, to use the Hudson line from Poughkeepsie, New Hamburg and Beacon will not see any increase either. Monthly and weekly ticket buyers will not increase more than 3.85% and there will be no increase for weekly tickets of $ 147 or more.
The increases were originally scheduled to come into effect in March, representing a seventh increase since 2008. Metro-North has also moved its morning rush hour restrictions by one hour, allowing customers to pay off-peak prices for Arrivals or departures at 6 am
According to the MTA:

For monthly and weekly commuters, fares will not increase by more than 3.85%. Monthly ticket increases will not exceed $ 15.00. Weekly ticket increases will not exceed $ 5.75;

Intermediate monthly and weekly ticket hikes are also capped at 3.85%. Some one-way fares will have larger increases only because rates must be calculated in increments of 25 cents. For these one-way fares, any increase above 6% would not exceed 50 cents per trip;

There is no increase for monthly tickets greater than or equal to $ 460.00;

There is no increase for weekly tickets greater than or equal to $ 147.00;

Monthly / weekly subscriptions with link services will increase by about 4%;

Monthly Switching Notes will be available for sale on the 25th of the previous month, commencing April 25, 2019; therefore, if you buy your monthly ticket for May, it will not be on sale until April 25;

There is no increase for Family Fare tickets;

City Ticket fares will increase from 25 cents to $ 4.50;

Starting May 1st, for all Metro-North Railroad tickets, $ 50 MetroCards will no longer be available with your monthly switch ticket;

ATMs and ATMs will continue to offer a round trip ticket with a $ 5.50 Metro card at the back, and a standalone MetroCard can be purchased at the machine.
