LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (WDRB) – Norton Healthcare has purchased the vacant Walmart Neighborhood Market, located at 3101 Poplar Level Road, for just over $ 4 million last month, according to Jefferson County Property Records .
The nonprofit health system has not disclosed its plan for the property, which is located directly on Audubon Plaza Drive, from the Norton Audubon Hospital.
"As Norton Audubon Hospital continues to grow, it's important to look for opportunities to meet the growing demand for healthcare in our community," Norton spokeswoman said. , Maggie Roetker, in an email. "We are still planning the best use of the property to meet the needs of the community."
The store was one of three stores closed by Walmart in Louisville last summer due to disappointing sales. It was built in 2007.
Norton is prohibited from using the 41,000 square foot building as a grocery store, discount store or online distribution center – that is, uses that would compete with Walmart – for 25 years, in accordance with the restrictions included in the April 5 act.
