Magnus Carlsen has a brilliant opening in Biel Chess. On Monday, the chess champion won another victory by beating Maxime Vachier-Lagrave with black pieces.

Two wins over rap are the best start Carlsen had in a great four-year tournament, writes Matt & Patt. He usually starts slowly, but in Switzerland he stayed on the winning track from the first moment.

Vachier-Lagrave had not lost to Carlsen with 13-year-old white pieces. This row smoked after Monday's feast. The Frenchman was also unbeaten in his last eight meetings with the Norwegian world champion.

Carlsen launched Biel Chess with victory over Czech David Navara on Sunday. Then he won with white coins after a queen offering.

With a full pot after two matches, the 27-year-old tournament in Switzerland leads half a point ahead of Azerbaijan's Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. On Tuesday, Carlsen will attend Peter Svidler of Russia.

Biel Chess consists of ten rounds. Carlsen went all the way into the tournament in 2007 and 2011.

In the fall, Carlsen will attempt to defend the World Cup title once again when he meets Fabiano Caruana in London. The first part will be played on November 9th.
