Optoma is perhaps best known for its projectors, but after the acquisition of NuForce in 2014, they also steeped their feet in the earplugs market and other audio products.
BeFree 8 is our first experience with an Optoma audio product, and it is a set of "totally wireless" ear plugs whose price is not totally deterrent. For less than $ 1,500 in the cheapest online store, they put in the place where the Apple AirPods are located.
And AirPods seems to have been a source of clear inspiration, at least if we consider the case. This is something bigger than the Apple case, but the plastic finish, the rounded edges and the closure of the magnet are very similar to the apple variant.
Deceiver of finger marks
The black and extremely bright plastic is a distinctive fingerprint magnet, which is minced less preached with the white finish of Apple. It's also not very difficult to scratch it if you're lying in the bag or if it's a bit careless. Our case already has some brands of use.
The current caps are of the type use paddles rubber or foam to create a seal against the auditory canal, so if you prefer open design, you should already look AirPods.
The caps are designed to pivot upward in the ear, thus acting a bit like one's own wings. It works well, but the weight distribution is a bit, so it can be difficult to adjust correctly if you jump and bounce. If you practice intense exercise, it is highly likely that he opts for a pair that has a slightly better fixation device. However, it is a plus that they are resistant to rain and perspiration (IPX5), so if you want to work with them, it should definitely go.
Plaster does not scream exactly the luxury or quality of fierce construction. Each of them has a small button on the page. The left handles the playback / pause of a press, skips a song forward with two presses and activates the voice assistant by holding it down. The right socket button apparently has no other function than turning the power on and off.
Magnetic Induction
For whatever reason, you only want to use one plug, you are limited to using the left. Here's the bluetooth receiver, while the jacks use what's called Near Field Magnetic Induction (NFMI) to communicate with each other.
Magnetism should be a more reliable method for this type of transmission and several manufacturers have talked about it in order to reduce the problem that signal between plugs fall. Bluetooth is known to be susceptible to interference from, for example, Wi-Fi networks because it uses the 2.4 GHz band.
In BeFree8, he seems apparently brilliant. We have not experienced any significant transmission problems, neither between the sockets and the mobile, nor between the right and left sockets. The sockets are also extremely fast to synchronize the signal if you go from one to two sockets or when you take the right grip out of the very limited coverage area to the left.
The range of plugs on the phone is average for this category, where of course, it is quite limited how much antenna you can accommodate.
It's also a little annoying that the outlets do not turn on automatically when you take them out of the case. It's something that is so comfortable with the Apple AirPods, that you can just take them out of the case, then they are on and connected even before you have them. in your ear.
Good sound
The sound is sound, though. BeFree8 offers a high resolution, a detailed sound and especially an airy and brilliant sound image. However, they can be perceived as a little sharp at the top, and especially from the iPhone, which is often a little more pointed in the sound than Android phones.
Plus, a little more fullness and body in the middle Were not despised, but evenly it's great, and certainly live up to, for example, Jabra Elite Sport, which was one of our favorites in this class. With proper ear pads and optimum sealing, bass reproduction is also very good, with a precise and rich base for the rest of the sound image.
Conversely, the quality of the call is quite low. Inside and in a quiet environment, it works well, but on the outside and especially in the wind, it is difficult for the other party to hear what you are saying. The counterpart has often found that we could hear as much of the environment as the undersigned's voice, and this indicates that they are not even trying to filter as much.
A small point of light is that you have at least served the sound of stereo conversation on your side, which is not always the case with these fully wireless products. They are also well insulated both inside and out, so you do not risk bothering the neighbor on the bus, but do not have any ambient mode like some of these products, which use the microphones on the outside to emit sound.
The life of the battery is also about equal to that of these "wireless" products, with four hours of charging. It seems to us that we have to vote well, and Optoma has also housed a battery with space for three additional charges in the business, many of which offer only two. The total life of the battery will be about 16 hours, which is good.
Conclusion
Optoma NuForce BeFree8 is a solid pair of fully wired earplugs. The nipples of Apple are clear, but the Optoma channel plug design offers better sound and better passive damping of the environment.
They also have a stable connection, a useful battery life and a good comfort, while the quality of the call is low. The latter, however, is the only real negative that we can find.
Overall, these should definitely be included in the evaluation if you are looking for ear plugs without any type of cable. Also look at the good options below.
Good Alternatives to Optoma NuForce BeFree8
Apple AirPods
The completely wireless variant of Apple is probably the best-selling in this category, and this is not without reason. In fact, they have the experience of a completely transparent use and have the best battery life almost everyone.
Much of the experience is due to the Apple W1 chip, which provides energy saving, better range and a few others with.
Jabra Elite 65t
If you want to save even a few dogs, the Jabra Elite 65t is a good choice. However, these are not sweat resistant (but Jabra also offers a model called Elite Active 65t), but nevertheless offers a good combination of sound quality, comfort and battery life.

Sony WF-SP700N
Sony's new fully wired outlets have taken the recipe of the very good WF-1000X and have adopted a slightly sportier design that makes them more suitable for those who want to use them for training. However, a nuisance is the case that does not match the earwings without turning them all around, and the battery life is also in just three hours.
