. The rainforest that has crossed parts of eastern Norway last weekend has been of little use. In the south of Ostfold, they did not have rain. This year's harvests are probably the lowest since the early 1960s.

– I now think that harvests can fall to 40% of the norm, says Rostad.

Although some fields may look beautiful from a distance, the situation is worse than what they might look like.

– There will be a lot of water up to now. We are talking about 200 liters per. square meter, Rostad emphasizes.

Fear of large losses of income

Grain producers are unequally affected. Trøndelag has recovered well during the drought. It is in eastern Norway that the situation is bad, but here too there are regional differences

In addition to the loss of income, the decline in yields leads to an increase in the demand for imports. If harvests are cut in half, it may be necessary to import about 600 000 tonnes.

– But if the price of imported grain is not higher than in Norwegian, consumers will not notice it in the stores, says Sindre Flø, managing director of Norske Felleskjøp.

Probably abandon the battle

did not improve milk producers last week. Some places have fallen from 14 to 15 millimeters with rains last weekend, but it's far from enough to get the crop.
