Norway: Today, DSB, in collaboration with the Municipality of Oslo, is launching the campaign "You are part of the preparation of Norway" to strengthen awareness and knowledge of population preparedness. The main content of the campaign consists of concrete advice on what people can do to prepare themselves better if something were to happen with essential social functions – such as food, mobile networks, the Internet, transport, water and drainage.
"We ask you to think about what can happen where you live, how you and your loved ones can be affected, and how you can cope with it – be prepared so that you and your family can manage yourself for at least three days. says DSB Director Cecilie Daae.
The essential needs to be covered during the first three days of a crisis are heat, drinks, food, medicine, hygiene and information.
On safety.com, you'll find specific information about what you should have at home.
Why campaign now?
"Although we live in a secure and stable society, the picture of risks and threats in Norway is complex and changing: climate change, extreme weather, changing security policy Terrorism and technology are examples, Daae said.
The population survey conducted by the ORD shows that locals are unprepared for a crisis where many people lose electricity or water, or if becomes more difficult to obtain the necessary goods.
– When the community is affected by a major event or crisis, help must first be the one who needs it the most. The more we are able to take care of ourselves and help them around us at an event, the better we are equipped as a society, "says Daae.
