Momentium can present Mark Knopfler in Ålesund on Monday after a press conference at the Sparebanken Møre Arena.

"It is a great pleasure to present Mark Knopfler at the Sparebanken Møre Arena, we have received many inquiries about him, and he is probably one of the artists that the locals have most desired" said Terje Erstad, Momentium's press officer.

The former frontman of Dire Straits has ravaged scenes and lists of hits since 1978. The British author, composer and guitarist was named in 1999 an officer of the Order of the British Empire for his efforts in the field of music .

Popular in Norway

The legend will play in the Sparebanken Møre Arena on June 7th. Ticket sales begin November 1st. It will be one of three concerts that he will hold in Norway in 2019.

"Many people want to see him once in a lifetime and I'm a big fan," says Idar Ove Giskegjerde, Sales Manager.

He is a very popular man in Norway and many of his albums are top sales.

"We can not guarantee what Knopfler wants to play, but if you look at the previous playlists, it indicates that he will present music from his entire career," Erstad said.

Saying Straits was dissolved after the "On Every Street" tour in 1992/93. Many of the band's biggest hits, such as "Romeo & Juliet" and "Sultans Of Swing", are on the set list when Knopfler performs live.

Slipper's ninth album

The supergitarist released his 16th studio album, "Down the Road Wherever" on November 16, and toured Europe and the United States with his band from April to September 2019.

He has already given concerts in Norway, including Bergen, Trondheim and Oslo, but this is the first time he's going to Ålesund.

Momentium is confident that they could fill the Color Line stadium at a Knopfler concert.

"But this is not such a type of concert that it will have this time, it will be a more intimate concert with 8500 spectators, and we think that Sparebanken Møre Arena will be a very good venue for this concert. it is therefore important to secure them as quickly as possible, "says Erstad.

The group is made up of ten men, most of whom have worked with Mark over the last two decades: Guy Fletcher (keyboard), Richard Bennet (guitar), Jim Cox (piano), Mike McGoldrick (flute), John McCusker (fellow and cister). Glenn Worf (bass), Danny Cummings (percussion), Ian Thomas (drums) and the new band members are Graeme Blebins (saxophone) and Tom Walsh (trumpet).
