Battleground for TV 2 during the World Cup

NRK and TV 2 can announce strong growth in the first part of the World Football Championships, reports Dagens Næringsliv. World Cup broadcasts have increased television market share by 2 to 30%. In 2017, they put a 25% market share.

The three NRK TV channels increased their market share from 37% in June 2017 to 39% this year.

– This is a very strong growth for the main TV channel 2 in June, presumably because of the World Cup. The main channel of TV 2 and NRK1 are growing, but the TV channel 2 is the one that develops the most, says Jan-Petter Dahl, head of communication, TV 2 for the newspaper.

Isolated, the TV 2 main channel increased its share from 16 to 22% in June. NRK1 is the largest single channel of the same period, with a 35% market share.

The good numbers come in the light of viewers having lost the TV channels 2. The channel has been in conflict with Telenor and Viasat lately, but the parties have finally agreed to extend the agreement.
