Had been perfect in the collective realm – but we miss something.
We have seen it before. That people have built on regular cars for electric cars. VW Bubble, Citroen 2CV, Jaguar Type E and MG, to name a few. And we just got this chance.
This time, we must admit that it is a little different. This building stands out clearly.
The car you look at on these images is basically a 1949 Mercury Coupe model, a car that's not uncommon to rebuild in different custom environments.
A little thinner than Ford
The 1949 model also means that it is the third generation of Mercury. She arrived in 1949 and was only until 1951. The cars are legendary.
The engine was essentially a 4.7 liter V8 Flathead, which in Mercury had a little more effect than in the "Ford Ford". Mercury was at the time a Ford brand, which had existed since 1938.
Mercury's cars had to be between the Ford car and the Lincoln luxury car.
However, this car, built for customers by the iconic ICON 4×4 automakers in California, is very special.
Sold the classic car – so he appeared with a much lower mileage
From V8 to electric motor
Here is the old V8 eraser, in favor of a 85 kWh battery and two Tesla electric motors. That means 400 horsepower at full speed in the first lap and much better performance than the old V8. Even though we are more numerous, including ourselves, the lazy, deep, and characteristic engine of the V8 flat-head era will be missed.
The range should be about 300 kilometers and the car can be charged via an ordinary CHAdeMO charger, but also has a charging port for Tesla compressors hidden in the original tank cap.
It sounds like something that brings together all the "piece" and the rat look on this car that makes the electric car the last thing you think about. So that's exactly what it is. Good and bad of course.
The car is on display in Las Vegas during the major SEMA exhibition.

Perfect for morning noise?
Even though the car seems a little small, it is in perfect condition. The body itself is original and intact, on the car that has been in southern California. The car was completely dismantled and reassembled. Naturally enough. Such a conversion requires a lot. Reinforcements and remodeling. We are always impressed by the way ICON has succeeded in rebuilding the classic Mercury classic.
The car is presented in Las Vegas at the SEMA Grand Salon at the ICON booth. They certainly build one for you too – if you have enough money.
One thing is certainly certain. This made a good deal in the collective field with all the Nissan Leaf and Tesla inside Oslo in the morning race on the E18. But we probably missed V8 sound …
