– A few years ago We both walked Bakgård and the concerts in the same garden, but we had to leave the market because it was not there room for both. Then there was a market in the cities, but to go to the courtyard – the meeting area of the festival – we had to set up the market at 15:00. It was problematic because people would like to continue shopping, "he says.
This year, the Bakgård market returns to the original yard, where it can be open from 10:00 am to 17:00, Friday and Saturday

Children's Market
On the day of the festival, the market extends to the whole town of Strandgata and, on the square , the children's market. Children up to the 7th grade can sell and exchange old toys.
– This is a recycling market focused on the "use and discard" mentality. Instead of children throwing toys they are tired of, they can sell them for cheap money or exchange them. The children's market has been very successful in recent years and we thought it deserved a better location, Santocono said.
On the square, there will also be a stage for a free concert for SFO children and children's gardens on Friday.
New Concert Hall
The new concert hall will be converted into a "new" backyard. The stage is set in the street in front of Nordic Hall, and the festival area is in the parking lot in front of Harstad Kino. Here, the festival offers 1700 square meters.
– This is what we do to better prepare ourselves for the Bakgård market, so that they do not have to rush every day and do not have to close so early. In addition, the new festival area offers more space for guests, more dining room and more space for rest areas and meeting groups. In addition, we can accommodate more spectators, explains the director of the festival.
Better space
In the old back yard, there was room to accommodate up to 2,300 guests. If you maximize the new area, there will be room for a total of 5,000 people.
– But we do not add it. We make sure that there are between 2500 and 3000 festivalgoers on Thursday and Friday. Now we are going to drive into the new area and we want to give some air to the public, "explains Santocono, explaining:
– We will make sure that people stay at the festival for a long time and have a good time. opportunity to sit down. We will install many sofas and furniture in the style of the 50s and create a festive atmosphere in the backyard.
Italian Piazza
Although this year's concerts take place in a new courtyard, Santocono emphasizes that the magical atmosphere of Bakgården.
– We will light the buildings around, as we have already done, and we will set up the laundry. We will recreate the feeling that has been – it will only improve, he says.
– It will always look like a small Italian place!
New Arena for the Future
In pursuit of a new area to hold concerts, the festival was on several alternatives.
– But none of them was backyard and that was important to us. The two back yards we will use this year go together and will give us the opportunity to make many cool moves in the future.
Santocono also think that the use of the new Bakgården opens the doors to Harstad as concert city:
