According to the country's health authorities, the ongoing Ebola breccia in eastern Congo has already required 164 lives.

A total of 222 infectious cases have been confirmed in the region since early August.

Congolese authorities are waiting for a new wave of Ebola virus in the city of Beni, near the Ugandan border.

Since December 2013, more than 11,300 people have died after being infected with Ebola in West Africa. After the end of the major epidemic in 2015, several sporadic cases of infection were recorded.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an Ebola vaccine that could be available from 2018 has a 100% effect.
