The Saab defense group recorded a loss of 103 million Swedish krona in the third quarter, demanding additional capital from the owners. 850 positions must be cut.

The news that the company was planning a capital injection of about 6 billion Swedish kronor had resulted in a 15.5% drop by Saab just after the opening of the Stockholm Stock Exchange on Tuesday. A few hours later, he had taken action and the case was at 10:45, or 12%.

The company will ask the owners to accept the issue of shares at a special meeting on November 16th.

Saab will also have 300 employees and 550 consultants. Saab has nearly 17,000 employees. It is not known which Swedish communities are affected by the cuts.

Peter Rawet, SVT economist, calls the message "a shock".

Saab chief executive Håkan Buskhe said the defense group has seen an increase in revenues of nearly 50% over the past three to four years due to several large orders. He explains the cuts like this:

"If you grow so fast, it creates inefficiency, part of the inefficiency that we have now treated," he says.
