It burns in a city center in the center of Fredrikstad. There is a lot of smoke coming out and the flames are now bursting from the roof of the building.

"Some people have been evacuated from the town hall and neighboring houses, but we do not have an overview of people registered at the address," says Ronny Samuelsen at the center of the East Police District Operations.

The fire was reported just before 14:00 on Saturday. The former wall building of 1890 is located at the crossroads of Nygaardsgaten and Asylgata.

– I think there are 10 people registered at the address. There are some of those that we do not have an overview of, he says.

Central East 110 claims to have assets on site at both Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg. In addition, there are forces called Moss.

– It burns fast. I understood that there was no control, "Samuelsen said.

The building is located at the end of the Fredrikstad pedestrian street and has four floors.

"The firefighters are in the ladder and are watering what is left of the ceiling.The fire has almost taken over," said NRK reporter Rune Fredriksen on site.

The area is blocked and many anxious people and others stand outside the barracks and observe what is happening.

"There is some risk of dispersion because the building as a burner is adjacent to other commercial buildings and dwellings," Fredriksen explains.
