It is rare that Norway is chosen to host major events for car manufacturers, but this week is just coming.
Journalists from all over Europe come to Oslo to test Hyundai's future electric car, Kona Electric, as well as the new hydrogen car Nexo.
250 journalists
The event began Monday, with groups constantly new to try cars in and around Oslo, and continues until Monday next week. In total, about 250 journalists will come, announces Hyundai Marketing Manager Christian Stenbo at Tek.no.
– The reason Norway was wanted was, of course, that we are a pioneering country on electric cars, but also that we have a relatively developed development. Hydrogen infrastructure. I think it was the sum of those two things, says Stenbo.
He says that Germany is the largest group of foreign journalists, but Norwegians are relatively high, and that there are more Norwegians in place than other Scandinavians.
– It's very nice to choose to add such an international launch to Norway, and of course also the most that Norwegian journalists have the opportunity to drive the car for a long time. Of course, we would have liked it a bit before, before the Norwegian holidays, but that was not possible, partly because of its production, "says Stenbo.
Last week, Hyundai has invited another test drive, the Santa Fe weather, the diesel engine and the Tucson model. This has been added in Barcelona, Spain.
400 new orders on Kona
Kona Electric is, as we know, sold in buckets and brooms since the 20,000 on the list place orders in early June. About 7,000 of them have chosen to submit an order (in the first non-binding paragraph), and Hyundai has finally announced that the estimated delivery time for new orders is would be in the second half of 2020.
Another 400 orders were posted The order was opened to other customers, says Stenbo, who says that delivery estimates for new customers are now conservative and that They hope to produce more cars than current estimates.
If you are not familiar with Hyundai Kona Electric, it's in line with the newer, more realistic WLTP standard of 482 kilometers, more than 200 horsepower and a starting price of about 325 000 crowns. Sometimes it is largely consistent with the Ampera-e Opel, but the price is a good deal below.
About Nexo, Stenbo estimates that they will bring 50 cars to Norway this year, and there too they have a significant number on the list. However, it is a car in a price range completely different from that of Kona, with a starting price of around 600,000 crowns. The opportunity to order Nexo will open during the summer.
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to say anything about the road test itself and how the cars were still working in a few weeks.
