– The main screen usually opens at the beginning, but then it starts spinning so fast that I have a twist on the line. Then I choose to cut the main screen and go to the spare screen.

Christian Selland (33 years old) reports that minutes of panic have passed in the air before hitting the ground at a speed of nearly 100 kilometers at the time.

Fought for life

The accident took place at Bømoen in Voss in Hordaland, under Ekstremsportveko. It was all normal when Selland and three friends would make their second jump for the day. That's what does not happen.

– When the reserve screen does not open normally, I panic and scream. I start doing a quick spin, and the last thing I remember is that I see the ground plane much too fast, "says Selland.

Selland describes the experience as surreal but continues to fight for life.

– I thought that now I have no chance and I thought I had finished.

Several witnesses bring back the accident from the ground and run for help. Selland has fainted in the air with too much blood in the legs. The first thing he remembers is that he wakes up to a lot of people around him.

– I panicked, but fortunately I finally felt this feeling

Selland had an angel injury and came out of the accident with two perforated lungs and an injured body.

The camera can provide answers

Voss Fallskjermklubb maintains a close dialogue with the Norwegian Federation of Air Sports to find the cause of the accident

– The main fall screen we have found Sunday. We do not know what made the backup screen not repaired properly.

He states that the general manager of the Voss Parachute Club, Andreas Håland Hemli,

should have been more numerous to film the accident. The Parachute Club is currently recording videos

Selland also brought a GoPro camera, which disappeared during the accident. He thinks the recorded video can give the answer to what has not triggered any of the screens.

-He can show things I've seen but I do not remember, said Selland.

The traumatic jump was number 784 in the series for Selland. He is now unfortunate for two weeks and does not know if he will jump again after the accident.
