Since the beginning of the year, car prices can be considerably increased in Norway. In this case, the EU introduces a new measurement method to measure the consumption and emissions of cars.
– In other words, cars that escape the same tax receive higher taxes unless the government takes control. Nils Sødal
Do not Want Consumers Get the Bill
They work for car buyers to avoid taking the bill when the new measurement method is fully implemented.
In Denmark, Sweden and Finland, governments report that they are not struck by sudden hopes for costs. In Norway, however, it is quiet
– We fear that the government will ensure that consumers take their full bills, "says Sødal
In Norway, taxes on cars are based on consumption / emissions and weight. When the first two increase, it means more expensive cars.

Higher emissions = more expensive
All new models must pass this test. The measurement method, called WLTP, is more accurate than previously used, which means that the emission figures of the car will be higher. In Norway, non-recurring charges are largely based on emissions.
The first step in the transition to new measurement methods will be September 1 of this year. Then the fees on a number of car models will increase. The change may cost from 10,000 to 30,000 crowns in additional costs
The NAF feared that this was only the first step of a two-stage rocket

NAF fears even more uncertainty about the purchase of a new car after the transition to WLTP
NAF fears even more uncertainty about the purchase of a new car after the transition to WLTP. As of January 1, 2019, taxes can increase even more. If the government does not make big adjustments to create a counterweight, the new target numbers will mean that consumers will have to pay up to $ 80,000 more when they buy a car.
– From the New Year, WLTP can become a real tax bomb. NAF has a clear demand for the government: they must turn to other Nordic countries and put in place a transitional arrangement that does not go beyond most people. Until now, government offices have been quiet about what they wanted to do car expenses. This means that anyone who orders new cars delivered in the coming years does not know how much it will cost, "says Sødal.

WLTP:
WLTP is the acronym for Worldwide Light Vehicle Test Procedure and is a new method of measuring car emissions introduced in the EU.
In Norway, the cost of purchase is related to the amount of CO2 released. Thus, higher emissions figures will mean higher taxes on a variety of car models – including cars already ordered.
As of January 1, 2019, all new cars will be homologated and taxed once by WLTP. A transitional arrangement will take effect from September 1st.
In Denmark, the government proposed a 21% reduction in new emissions. In Sweden, the government introduced only the first stage of the changes, which continue until 2019. In Finland, they adopted a 25% reduction of new emission figures and are likely to continue to be reduced if necessary.
