New records for energy and climate measures in Norwegian households

The upcoming oil ban, combined with a sunny summer and high electricity prices, has increased interest in energy and climate measures supported by Enova.

In August, nearly $ 22.4 million was paid for a total of 1,156 measures. It's a new monthly record, the nation reports. The previous record dates back to last December when Enova paid 19.3 million euros for energy and climate measures in Norwegian homes.

"We have never received so many registrations and we have never paid as much Enova grant support this fall," said Anna Barnwell, director of marketing for construction and energy systems.

In total, 16 different energy and climate measures can trigger a payment if you save the Enova bills at the end of the measurements. A quarter of the payments under the grant go to oil cuts, linked to the ban on oil firing, which will be introduced from 1 January 2020.

According to Enova, up to 90,000 households can still heat housing with fossil fuels. They need to find a new heating solution.

Another amount of the subsidy has not been used so surprisingly to support the installation of solar panels. The sunny summer has given a boom in this market, with almost as many installations installed in August as in 2017.
