Strong growth in the marine supplier sector

The supplier sector represented NOK 59 billion in 2017 and employed 18,000 man-years. It shows numbers of Menon Economics. The annual report on the results and prospects of the marine equipment supplier market presented at the Ålesund shipyard conference presents encouraging figures for the Norwegian sector of maritime service providers. The job depends somewhat, but should also increase next year. It is above all the growth of fishing and cruises that is the engine of growth. Aquaculture also presents a good development.

Expects strong growth

"The last few years have been difficult, but 2018 will be the year of Norwegian equipment suppliers for the equipment of ships, and we expect strong growth in 2019." says analyst senior Anders Helseth in Skipsrevyen. While growth in 2018 is expected to be 6%, the figures for 2019 indicate a growth of 13%. Norwegian equipment manufacturers also appear to be successful in international competition, with 2/3 coming from international shipments, says Helseth.
