This cruel

After a little wait, Apple has finally developed the new economical phone iPhone XR, launched at the same time as the new phones XS.

And after testing the phone for a few days, we are not sure whether it is dice 2 or 5. It is quite possible to say that it is both.

What is the iPhone XR?

XR is based on the legacy of Apple's inexpensive 5C model, which has become a favorite for those who wanted the simplified world of Apple, but still did not want to pay the heavy price that the company had taken strictly for its flagship product.

At the time of purchase, you received an iPhone slightly scaled, slightly more colorful, at a slightly higher price.

iPhone XR follows these tracks in many ways. We are talking about a phone that physically stands in the middle of the new X and X Max, which uses the same processor. The dish is not quite the same because Apple gave the phone a little less RAM.

At first glance, the design looks identical, but XR has one in a significative way thicker frame around the screen. The screen is also of significantly lower quality. Because Xs uses an OLED screen, XR has an LCD variant.

XR on the left, X on the right.

Not only is the technology different. The resolution on XR is "only" 1792×828, while Xs has 2436×1125 on a physically smaller surface.

The screen does not have the same 3D touch functionality as a big brother, but a lightweight version that offers you slightly expanded capabilities in certain areas of the UI if you press a little strong.

The main button is part of the story and is also the fingerprint reader – and the screen has the same huge block to accommodate the sensors, the front camera and the speaker.

The main camera behind is the same as the one sitting on the big brother. Combined with Apple's enhanced HDR feature, it allows you to take incredibly impressive photos in challenging lighting conditions.

However, you do not have a "zoom lens" – and you also lose some of the portraits presented in the high-end model.

XR is available in many colors. It's the least colorful.

So how does the iPhone XR work?

The short answer to this question is quite simple: exactly as expected.

If you already know the Apple world, you experience the same familiar user interface. The home button that has disappeared is already familiar with the iPhone X, but the buyers of this phone are probably very loyal to the iPhone 7 or 8. Let's just say that the transition goes smoothly. By simply pressing a physical button, you just slide up. Instead of pressing twice, you wake up slowly. Something more hocus-pocus is not.

We still think it's a loss, because face detection is still not as good as the fingerprint reader it replaces: it's just a little more movement to return the screen to only to press a button and it's slower when the phone comes out of your pocket. In addition, there is herk in harsh outdoor lighting conditions – or sunglasses.

Beyond, things are careless. The phone is super-fast and the Apple ecosystem is really controversial.

The wireless charging is of course in place, which is particularly nice when you jump in a new car – but also in the office.

We are missing the phone's zoom lens, but the main camera is really doing its job. The photos are taken lightly and the quality is difficult to blame.

This photo is taken in the shade by a beautiful autumn day with a low sun. Normally, an image of this type would have a completely dark title or burnt background – but the intelligent HDR creates results that we could hardly believe, as far as possible.

Apple has also significantly improved the speakers compared to previous models, which means that talking with speakers – but also listening to music – has become much better than before.

Conclusion: Therefore, the iPhone XR is the best buy iPhone

What you have left is a phone that has many of the same features and components as the more expensive Xs models, without actually sacrificing so much.

Well, the LCD is worse than the OLED variant, but the difference is not so great for normal use. 3D Touch is a function you use little, and strictly speaking, it is rare that we use the camera 2X either. At least not enough to defend the price difference.

It may also seem that the phone also has a slightly more powerful battery. And he has a lot of beautiful colors.

Alternative Conclusion: Therefore, the iPhone XR is a hopeless purchase

The big problem with this Apple budget model is that the price is almost impossible to defend.

This should be the cheap iPhone model, but it has a starting price of $ 8690 for the 64GB edition. Of course, you have to manage this model because you do not have the option of additional memory cards. In fact, you need to upgrade to the 128GB version that costs $ 9290.

The first edition costs 10,490 crowns. Yepp, 10,490 crowns for a budget model. It's $ 700 more expensive than an iPhone 8 Plus with so much memory.

Worse still, the 128GB edition is almost identical to Huawei's new flagship product, the Mate 20 Pro, which is better than the iPhone XR in almost every respect. But it is not an iPhone.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro is currently considered the best mobile of the year. The price is almost identical to the "budget version" of Apple.

The reality is that the iPhone XR is mostly seen as a patch on the wound because Apple is about to praise its usual patterns. You need to pay $ 13,290 for a classic iPhone XS with 256GB of storage.

"But you can get cheaper," you may think. The problem is that 128 GB is not available and that 64 GB is too small.

XS then appears as a good alternative. For comparison.

But the only reason you choose an XR is that you certainly do not want to switch to an Android mobile.

It can be easy to understand if you have first locked yourself in the world of Apple.
